Zuhair Qannoua Aims to Focus on His Artistic Career Resignation Officially Accepted Amid Questions Over Its Motives
The Syrian director Zuhair Qannoua surprised the artistic community on Tuesday by officially announcing his resignation from the Syrian Artists’ Syndicate Council, after several months of activity within the central council, explaining that this step paves the way for a new phase in which he will focus on his creative and artistic career.
The resignation, which was officially accepted, has raised questions about its timing and motives, especially given the circumstances the syndicate is currently facing, coinciding with Qannoua’s preparations to continue filming his new series "Ana Wa Huwa Wa Hum".
In a statement published on his Facebook page, Qannoua emphasized that he has always defended artists and the syndicate, noting that he worked side by side with members of the central council over the past months and that they achieved steps that gave him a sense of satisfaction despite some difficulties and challenges.
Qannoua explained that his resignation came after careful consideration and was accepted without delving into administrative details, noting that the upcoming phase requires him to focus more on his artistic work and put extra effort into the creative field. He also pointed out that the syndicate and the artistic community are going through a "complex" phase, referring to current challenges.
Despite leaving the council, Qannoua sent a message of support to his colleagues, wishing the council success in its duties, expressing hope that their efforts will strengthen the syndicate’s power and independence, concluding his statement with the phrase "On to Work," and affirming his continued contribution outside the union framework.
