Five family members killed in Malaysia Father suspected over financial pressures

Malaysian authorities found the bodies of a five-member family, including two young children, inside a house in Pahang, in what is suspected to be a murder, according to Pahang Police Chief Yahaya Othman.

The police said the incident occurred on the morning of February 17 at a single-storey house around 7 a.m.

Yahaya confirmed the victims included two girls aged three and four, their parents aged 32 and 28, and the children’s 55-year-old grandmother.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the father attacked his family members with a sharp weapon, believed to be a knife, before turning it on himself.

He added that financial difficulties may have been the motive and noted that the suspect had no known history of mental illness.

The suspect had returned to live with his family in January after resigning from his job in Selangor and had started a new position in Kuantan a week before the incident.

The crime was discovered by his 15-year-old younger brother, who was at home at the time and immediately sought help.

The bodies of the children and their parents were found in the bedroom, while the grandmother was found in the kitchen, all showing visible injuries.

The bodies were taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for autopsy at 12:45 p.m.

A neighbor, Ms. Saripah Jaya, described the family and the suspect as friendly, noting that she had not heard any noise or signs of a struggle due to the heavy rain that morning.

Another resident, Mr. Tengku Fakri Tengku Aziz, 41, said he was shocked by the incident. “I never expected something like this to happen so close to our home,” he added.
