Indian police in Latur, Maharashtra, arrested a 30-year-old woman after she allegedly killed her one-year-old daughter following an argument with her husband, a daily wage laborer, over his late return home.

According to police, the incident occurred Monday in the Shyam Nagar area, when the 34-year-old husband returned home in the early hours.

A security source said the woman, enraged after the argument, grabbed a sharp knife and stabbed her daughter in the face, abdomen, chest, waist, and head, killing her instantly.

Based on a complaint from the child’s father, the woman was taken into custody Monday and formally charged with murder.
