Jordan Faces Heavy Rainfall: "Security" Urges Caution and Vigilance

The Public Security Directorate warned citizens of the approaching atmospheric low affecting the kingdom on Sunday and Monday, which, according to meteorological bulletins issued by the relevant authorities, will be accompanied by heavy rainfall at times in northern Jordan, gradually extending to the central and eastern regions, and by evening reaching the southwestern areas, possibly accompanied by thunder and hail.

The directorate emphasized the importance of adhering to precautionary instructions and following safe behavior to prevent accidents of all kinds, stressing the need to avoid valleys, flood channels, and low-lying areas, especially in northern Jordan, and to never risk crossing water accumulations, whether on foot or by vehicles, due to the real danger they pose to life and property.

The directorate called on drivers to exercise extreme caution while driving on rain-affected roads due to slippery surfaces and reduced visibility, and highlighted the necessity of inspecting and maintaining rainwater drainage channels to prevent water overflow and flooding of homes, in addition to the importance of providing water pumps, especially for houses below street level.

Regarding heating methods, the directorate stressed the importance of safety measures, not refueling heaters while they are on, or leaving them running during sleep, ensuring proper ventilation at all times, and avoiding the use of wood stoves for heating to prevent suffocation or fires.

The directorate also confirmed the readiness of its personnel to handle any emergencies, urging citizens not to hesitate to call the unified emergency number 911 if needed.
