In a tragic incident, an 84-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting his son during a family dispute inside the house.

According to a police report published by People newspaper, officers responded immediately to calls reporting a shooting inside a residence in a neighborhood.

Investigations revealed that the man was living with his 85-year-old wife and their 62-year-old daughter, whom he cared for. The wife was receiving home healthcare services, while the daughter had a disability.

The investigation added that the man went into his bedroom, retrieved a firearm, and shot his son, according to the victim’s wife.

The son was injured and transported to the hospital for urgent treatment, while the father was later hospitalized for health reasons. The man appeared in court for the first time on December 11, where a public defender was appointed, and he was held without bail. He was charged with attempted murder and remanded to the Brevard County Jail complex.
