Two brothers end life of famous South African rapper

- South African rapper Kiernan Forbes "AKA"
- Killed alongside close friend, celebrity chef Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane
South African authorities have charged two brothers with murder following their extradition from Eswatini, in connection with the killing of the renowned rapper Kiernan Forbes, known as "AKA."
Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande were returned to South Africa after a lengthy legal attempt to block their extradition failed.
Forbes, an award-winning hip-hop artist, was killed in 2023 outside a restaurant in the coastal city of Durban, alongside his close friend, celebrity chef Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane.
South Africa has one of the highest murder rates in the world, but this incident shocked the nation.
The brothers also face charges for Motsoane’s murder and will be tried alongside five other suspects already in custody when the trial begins.
Other charges include attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.
At the time of the attack, Forbes had been in Durban to perform for his birthday celebration.
Police described the shooting of the two men as a coordinated hit.
Forbes was one of South Africa’s leading hip-hop artists, having released three solo albums, and was also known for collaborations with other artists, including Nigeria’s Burna Boy.
