"Red Bull Soapbox" is a race organized by Red Bull. Amateur drivers challenge each other using non-motorized, handcrafted vehicles, which are evaluated based on their design, speed, and stability on the road.
Innovation, daring, and uniqueness play a prominent role in the competition, as each team will be judged on their stunt skills. Soapbox vehicles are often inspired by folklore, popular culture, car racing, or everyday life in general. Some prominent examples include kart-style vehicles from the "Pokémon" game, humorous versions of "Papa Mobile" or the famous "Mr. Bean" character"s Mini car.
This event was first held in the year 2000 and has since been organized in over a hundred races in several countries around the world. These races typically attract thousands of spectators and primarily focus on the more creative and entertaining aspects of the competition.
The first race in Jordan was held in 2015, with over two hundred applications to participate, and 39 participants competing with standout designs such as the Batmobile, Eiffel Tower, and a chicken wing! The competition was held for the second time in Jordan in September 2019, with over 35,000 spectators in attendance.
This year, Jordan is hosting the third edition of the "Red Bull Soapbox" race in the kingdom, with the largest number of applications ever, exceeding five hundred. However, only forty teams will have the opportunity to participate in the event, and the winning team will have the chance for a full Formula 1 experience!
