<p style="text-align: left;">A Syrian actor, born in the Baghdad neighborhood of the Syrian capital, Damascus, in 1977, he began acting at the age of eight, participating in children's theater. When he applied for admission to the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, he was rejected the first time. Among the members of the committee that rejected him was artist Ghassan Massoud, and the same committee accepted him again the following year.</p> <p style="text-align: left;">He graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts and worked extensively in Syrian television drama, making his professional debut in 2000 with the series "Secrets of the City." He also appeared in Egyptian dramas, and in cinema, his most notable work was "Bab al-Shams," which screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004.</p> <p style="text-align: left;">Basil Khayat was a judge on the first and second seasons of Arab Casting.</p> <p style="text-align: left;">He won the Syrian Adonia Award for Best Leading Actor in 2004 for his role in the series "Big Dreams."</p> <p style="text-align: left;">He won the Murex D'or Award for Best Arab Actor for his role in the series "Women's Love" in 2015.</p>
