  • She ordered rare doll eyes ten years ago
  • She was initially told production would take two years

A Chinese woman recently received a special order for doll eyes she had purchased online ten years ago.

“Li” shared on social media that she finally got the custom items she ordered in 2015, having completely forgotten about the purchase.

She received a text from the online store on November 25 confirming the arrival of the order, which she had paid 515 yuan (around $73) for.

The store had informed her that the eyes were handcrafted abroad and would take two years to make, and Li had agreed to this at the time.

With her busy work schedule, the order slipped her mind until the packages arrived on November 27, and the seller even included an extra pair of eyes for free.

Li explained that her doll-collecting hobby has changed over the past decade; she still attends exhibitions and buys dolls, but she no longer waits more than three months for deliveries.

She sold the newly received doll and isn’t sure what she will do with the extra pair of eyes.

She noted that she was able to receive the order because her phone number had remained the same throughout the years.

The seller explained that the long delay was due to the time-intensive handmade production process, as the overseas craftsman prioritizes high quality and does not sell flawed products.

He added that the availability of raw materials for the eyes fluctuates, further extending wait times.

He confirmed that while his products were not widely distributed over the past decade, he maintained communication with previous customers about their orders and that most who ordered items ten years ago have now received them.
