British police have expressed "serious concern" for the safety of two men believed to have entered the Hull River on Friday evening following a pursuit.

Humberside Police said their officers noticed a car with a broken rear brake light, and when the vehicle failed to stop, authorities began pursuing it.

After five minutes, the car collided with a wall on Charlotte Street, after which two men ran on foot and entered the Hull River, prompting police to launch a wide-scale search involving the British Coastguard and firefighters.

Inspector Andy Crawforth said: "After receiving reports of two men entering the water, a search operation was immediately launched to determine their identities and whereabouts. We are very concerned for their safety and are conducting extensive investigations to try to identify and locate them."

Crawforth added that police will increase their presence in the area, urging anyone who believes they know the identities of the men or has information about the disappearance of an acquaintance on Friday evening to contact authorities immediately.
