Inter Miami’s first football team made history by winning the Major League Soccer (MLS) title for the first time in the club’s history, defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 in the 2025 final.

With this victory, Argentine star Lionel Messi added another trophy to his illustrious career with his new club.

Inter Miami opened the scoring early in the 8th minute, though the lead came from an own goal by a Vancouver Whitecaps player. Vancouver equalized in the 60th minute when Ali Ahmed scored from a precise assist by Ryan Ait.

However, Messi’s influence proved decisive. Inter Miami regained the lead in the 71st minute when Rodrigo De Paul scored the second goal, assisted expertly by the Argentine superstar.

Alende completed the hat-trick in the sixth minute of stoppage time, with the third goal also coming from a new assist by Messi, underlining his pivotal role in securing the title for his team.

During the match, Messi provided two assists that led directly to Inter Miami’s second and third goals, helping the team claim the most coveted American title and write a new chapter in its short history.
