- Family demands explanation and official answers about the incident
A family is seeking answers after a man died while on holiday in Cyprus and his heart was reportedly missing, with no prior notification given to them.
According to reports, 76-year-old Michael Graley was on holiday in Cyprus with his 73-year-old wife Yvonne and their family when he suffered a leg cramp and was taken to the hospital.
About 10 minutes after arriving, doctors informed the family that Michael had died, but no cause of death was listed on the paperwork when the body was returned to the UK.
Yvonne said a pathologist performed a post-mortem in Cyprus, but no official cause of death was confirmed.
A second post-mortem conducted at the Rochdale Coroner’s Office in the UK revealed that Michael’s heart was missing.
The coroner informed the family that the heart had been removed, and they would not know the cause of death until it was returned.
Yvonne told the press, “They said someone removed Michael’s heart, so they cannot determine the cause of death. I was so shocked, it was horrifying.”
Cyprus police stated that Michael’s heart had been sent for research, but the family expressed anger and demanded answers about why it was removed without their knowledge.
The Rochdale Coroner’s Office confirmed that it is investigating the matter.
